Shopify Dropshipping

In this article, we talk about how people are using Shopify Dropshipping to make large amounts of money in so little time. Additionally, I share what makes Shopify a success for many new online retail business owners, and how it is contributing to this dropshipping business boom.

Have you ever heard about those people who make $50k to $100k figure salaries in a few months using Shopify? The secret is very simple. These people make use of Shopify to power their e-commerce website quickly, applying its native Dropshipping service features into their core business process.

What’s dropshipping? Dropshipping is a method by which an online business owner sets up an e-commerce website and puts up products in his online store. However, he does not actually keep any of the inventory, not at all. Inventory is kept by his affiliates who may happen to be across the world like generally, China or some other faraway country that normally produces and sells products at a dramatically low price. The advantage of this is that he doesn’t have to worry about manufacturing, development, warehouse, and export/import logistics. So what happens when a transaction occurs and an online customer makes a purchase using this dropshipping method? When an order is made by a customer on the e-commerce website, the e-commerce owner sends out an order request to his affiliate to deliver the product to the customer on his behalf. The process saves the e-commerce business owner time and costs in his business. So if you’ve looked on YouTube and discovered that even 20-year-old kids are utilizing this process and making thousands of dollars in a few months, then you’ve got the core secret recipe to dropshipping success.

So how is this done in Shopify Dropshipping? It’s simply by utilizing the dropshipping apps or plugins supported by Shopify. One of the most popular ones is Oberlo, which allows you to select products from their portfolio to add and sell in your store. That’s basically it. Consequently, the other essential component of this business is marketing your products to the right target demographics. This is important to understand. Just because you build an e-commerce dropshipping website, doesn’t mean your customers will come and make purchases. Thanks to Shopify’s ease of use and integrated dropshipping features, anyone who has no technical experience and very little starting investment, can jump in and run a dropshipping business easily. Shopify has made it so fast and easy for anyone to quickly set up their e-commerce store, and put in their products.  It also provides them with the tools and resources to run their business, from accepting credit card purchases, creating labels for shipping their products, etc.

What’s the main disadvantage of running this type of dropshipping business? The most obvious is the dropshipping market saturation. So many people are doing this now believing they will become quick millionaires. But they will soon discover it’s not as easy as it sounds. It is much harder now to succeed in this area because everyone’s figured it out and are jumping on the wagon. So everyone is trying to guess the demands of online shoppers and have their products in front of them before someone else beats them to it. It is like running any business after all, and the more competition you have, the harder it is for you to make money because of competition stealing your customers. There’s more to this of course than what we're covering. Like Facebook Ads targeted marketing, and if they are even using it correctly to make their drop shipping business a success. So for anyone who is interested in quickly setting up an e-commerce website whether it's by using a dropshipping business model or not, Shopify is the way to go.

The second disadvantage of dropshipping, and probably most important to any business, is customer support. Since you have a third party handling manufacturing and shipping, you don’t have control over the quality of support in these areas. What happens if there's a defective product? What about a lost or delayed delivery? What about the quality of the products? All these issues and more, and then how does your customer reach out to you about them. What are you going to do? These are beyond your control as they are controlled by your third party and they are far away and in a different timezone. These are among some issues you’d need to consider before or while running a dropshipping business. All in all, we think Shopify is one of the top CMS out there. It's the e-commerce CMS of choice for anyone wishing to try or set up a dropshipping business with built-in apps and features to support this process.
